Uttarakhand government has decided to relocate the families thriving on the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag railway line in the same district, for which the government has already prepared a full-fledged list of the families that were living in the area from where the train would pass. This data will be soon passed to the district officials of the respective place so they can pay their heed in this regard.

For laying the 126 km long railway line from Rishikesh-Karnaprayag, about 45 villages with a total of 1,751 families thriving in Tehri, Pauri, Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts will be relocated. Meanwhile, a review meeting was headed by Chief Secretary S. Ramaswami in which the Rail Development Corporation handed over the data of such families that need to be relocated. Looking into this matter, the Chief Secretary has ordered all the District Officials to start the land acquisition process.
