Uttarakhand state to soon get a new NDRF battalion

Since the horrific event of 2013 Kedarnath disaster had caused terror in the state, the news of Uttarakhand to get a new NDRF battalion has brought a ray of hope for the people living in the hilly areas as they have been affected the most. These battalions are trained to face challenges and to conduct rescue operations during earthquake, floods, cyclone and other natural calamities.

Four new NDRF battalions will be formed for Uttarakhand, HP, J& K and New Delhi respectively

The preparations for forming four new National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) battalions are in full swing. These four new battalions will be established in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu Kashmir and New Delhi respectively. The Union Home Ministry has already made the blueprint for recruiting 4,000 jawans in NDRF.

The idea will be soon proposed to the Union Cabinet, after which the recruitment of NDRF jawans will take place

Currently, there are 12 battalions of NDRF that are deployed in different parts of the country and whenever a natural disaster or any uncertain situation happens, the jawans are quickly posted there. The NDRF’s relief work was highly appreciated during the floods in Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, Tamil Nadu and cyclone in Orissa, Andra Pradesh and earthquake in Nepal that caused terror among the people.
