While UP and Uttarakhand share the legacy of Ramayana, Maharaj said that Uttarakhand can claim exclusivity on sites associated with Mahabharata. The minister also spoke about some unknown Buddhist sites in Uttarakhand which will be revealed in their final list.

When asked about the ban on adventure activities like rafting, paragliding etc. by the NGT in the state, Maharaj said that government is in process of finalizing foolproof policy and guidelines to regulate adventure tourism activities.
