Uttarakhand may increase fees at govt. hospitals, registration charge set Rs.100 at district hospital

Uttarakhand governmnet may increase the user charges for all the government hospitals including district hospitals, Community Health Centers (CHC) and Primary Health Centers (PHC). According to the proposal formulated by State Chief Secretary, there will be an increase in all kinds of user charges including registration charges, lab test charges, admission fee etc. The proposal will be sent to the cabinet for review.

District Hospital will charge Rs. 100 as registration charge while CHC and PHC and will charge Rs. 30 and Rs. 20 respectively.

Usually, there is an increase of 10%  in user charges for government hospitals every year, however, the Uttarakhand government planning to make major reforms this year. Previously, the registration charge at district hospital was Rs. 19 while CHC and PHC have Rs. 10 each. Dr. K.K. Tamta, medical superintendent, Doon Medical College has been given the responsibility for creating a revised free structure for government hospitals.

However, U-Health and Mukhyamantri Swasth Bima Yojna (MSBY) card holders will be treated free of cost without any registration fee while for patients under general category will be able to avail some of the OPD tests free of charge.
