Uttarakhand to host 13th India-Nepal joint military exercise in Pithoragarh

The Indian and Nepalese armies will take part in 13th Surya Kiran joint military exercise that will take place in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. The military exercise, that take place annually, will include training on jungle warfare, anti-terrorism combat as well as disaster response activities. In 2017, the 12th edition of the Surya Kiran joint military exercise took place in Kathmandu. The military exercise is scheduled to take place in two months’ time.

This is a regular military exercise organized between the two countries for the past decade to improve the coordination between the respective defence forces of the countries. It also symbolizes the amicable foreign relations between the two countries. The announcement of the military exercise came days after Indian Army Chief Bipin Rawat visited Nepal to attend the function organized by the Nepal Army to commemorate the Army Day.
