Uttarakhand has got very bright future in film production: Ramesh Sippy

Veteran film producer Ramesh Sippy believes the state of Uttarakhand has got a very bright potential in film production. In an interaction with officials at Uttarakhand pavilion at ‘Global Exhibition on Services’ event held in Mumbai, the legendary filmmaker said in order to promote Uttarakhand as a film destination, producers and directors should be regularly invited and film festivals should be organized.

In the discussion, Sippy said that he believes the environment has become conducive in Uttarakhand for making films and that has been proved with state winning the award for ‘Most Film-friendly State’ in the recently concluded National Film Festival ceremony. He suggested that new destinations for film shooting should be identified and infrastructure and other facilities should be provided. In addition to this, international filmmakers should be invited so that the scenic natural beauty of Uttarakhand is publicized worldwide.

Since the Uttarakhand government is contemplating changes in the current film policy, the selection committee of the ‘National film awards’ to Uttarakhand of which Sippy is a part of.
