Uttarakhand to create U-14, U-16, U-19, U-23 cricket teams, open trails soon

Uttarakhand will soon have open trails for cricket for different age groups in men and women categories. Apart from this, a Ranji team will also be selected to participate in the Ranji trophy. The selection of the players will be done under the supervision of BCCI selectors and coach and manager will also be selected by the BCCI. The Uttarakhand Cricket Consensus Committee will select assistance manager and assistance coach. Special attention would be given to provide cricket infrastructure in these neglected hill districts and scout cricketing talents.

On Tuesday, State Cricket Steering Committee meeting was held in Dehradun. In this meeting, Uttarakhand Cricket Consensus Committee (UCCC) coordinator Prof. Ratnakar Shetty took information about facilities and manpower of the cricket organizations in the state. He informed that while the four plan districts (Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar) have the cricket grounds and other facilities, the remaining hill districts doesn’t.

The steering committee will have its office at Raipur stadium. The next meeting will be held in the second or third week of August.
