Uttarakhand Board Examination to be held after March 11

Uttarakhand Board of School Education (UBSE) has decided to postpone the examination dates for class 10 and 12. The examinations for both High school and Intermediate will now take place after March 11, confirms Radha Raturi, Chief Electoral Officer of Uttarakhand. This news came two days after the dates for 2017 assembly elections in Uttarakhand were announced. “Ramnagar Board is directed to conduct Uttarakhand Board Examination on any dates after March 11” adds Raturi.

Close to 3 lakh students will appear for the Board examination this year. More than 300 schools in Uttarakhand will act as examination centers for conducting Board exams.

Uttarakhand elections affect exam schedule

The single-phase elections in Uttarakhand will take place on February 15. Poll results to be declared on March 11. Earlier, the examinations were to take place in the first week of March. However, as large numbers of schools will act as polling booths, the Examination Board has been asked to postpone their exam schedule. Teachers will  serve additional duties during the Election Day.

R.K. Kunwar, Director of Education, will chair a meeting on January 9 with top  officials regarding scheduling examinations dates . The meeting will also discuss probable changes to the practical examination schedule. Practicals for Uttarakhand Board Examination will take place between January 15 to February 15.
