BREAKING NEWS: Devbhoomi Uttarakhand to become alcohol-free state

The incumbent Uttarakhand governmnet is planning to make Uttarakhand an alcohol-free state with step-by step procedure. In the first phase, the government have decided to reduce the time of sale of liquor in the state. The liquor shops will only be open for business from 3 PM to 9 PM. Apart from that, the government is also planning to reduce the number of liquor shops in the state. The protests by women against alcohol have been prevalent in Uttarakhand in last few weeks, especially after the Supreme Court order to shift liquor shops away from the highways.

Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat is expected to make an announcement regarding liquor ban after his return from Orissa. If and when alcohol is banned from Uttarakhand and to not let this decision affect tourism, the tourists will be able to procure alcohol in the state. Apart from Uttarakhand, other BJP-ruled states such as Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh will also take some firm decisions regrading alcohol-ban in future.
