Uttarakhand bags the Award of Excellence at International Meet

Uttarakhand has crossed yet another milestone as the Himalayan state has been conferred with the award of excellence at the 2nd Global Skill Development Summit held in Paris recently for innovations and extensive use of IT to impart technical skills to the state’s youth.

On the closing day of the event i.e. on June 23, Pankaj Kumar Pandey the Project Director of Uttarakhand Skill Development Committee received the honour on behalf of Uttarakhand. Addressing the audience at the Indian embassy in Paris, Uttarakhand’s Finance Minister Prakash Pant highlighted steps initiated by the state government to promote skill development in Uttarakhand.

During his speech, Pant told that Uttarakhand is taking a new initiative to impart high-quality job oriented training to the state’s youth so they can get better employment opportunities in tourism, beauty, wellness, agriculture, health and security sectors.

Pant also emphasized the importance of employment generation in the border areas of the state and said that the training programmes are being designed in accordance with the industrial demand. These training programmes are running in both rural as well as urban areas of the state. To polish the youth, the committee was also running international language training programme for the state’s youth to strengthen their prospects of working in international firms.
