Uttarakhand Activist & Padma Shri Avdhash Kaushal receives Satpal Mittal Award

Padmashree recipient, an academic and an activist, Shri Avdhash Kaushal hailed for his noteworthy efforts in uplifting and educating the poor and oppressed classes including the SC, ST, women and the nomadic tribes of Van Gujjars have added an another feather to his cap. The noted right activist has been honoured with the prestigious Satpal Mittal Award for his commendable work in the arena of ‘uplift and education’ of the marginalized sections of Uttarakhand.

Shri Avdhash Kaushal who truly deserves the accolade runs an NGO called Rural Litigation Entitlement Kendra (RLEK). The Uttarakhand activist has bagged an award in the individual category for “rendering outstanding service to humanity,” which was handed by Punjab Governor, V P Singh Badnore in Ludhiana. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh along with a citation and a small memento as a token of love. The Padmashree recipient had also received Nani A Palhiwala award earlier this year for his contribution to Civil Liberties.
