Under UJJWALA scheme, over 2 lakh families provided free LPG connections in Uttarakhand

Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) scheme, over 2 lakh 17 thousands families living in poverty in Uttarakhand have been provided with free LPG gas connections. The government gave a target of 4.38 lakh families to the oil companies for the free LPG gas connections, however, the remaining 2.21 lakh families which are yet to receive the benefits – finding them is proving to be a tough job. There are hundreds of families which are below poverty line, have a ration card, but do not have there name on the list. To provide benefit to these families, the government have asked the oil companies to collect the required data.

Out of all the districts in Uttarakhand, Haridwar has registered maximum LPG connections thus helping 45,405 underprivileged families, while 12,861 LPG connections were distributed in Dehradun district. All gas agencies in the state have been advised to educate the masses about this scheme and how they can benefit from it.
