Mythology behind Triyuginarayan Temple

Perched at an elevation of 1900 meters at the confluence of Mandakini and Songanga rivers, the revered temple of Triyuginarayan is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is here the celestial wedding of Lord Shiva and goddess Parvati took place in the presence of supreme Vishnu and Brahma. The wedding took place in Satya-Yuga in presence of a holy fire (Akhand Dhuni) that burns eternally in front of the shrine. According to the scriptures, pilgrims carry the ashes from the holy fire which is believed to bring marital bliss for the devotees.

How to reach the temple

Triyuginarayan temple can be reached via motorable road from Sonprayag which is situated 12 kms from the temple. Few trekking routes are also available to reach the temple. The shortest trek route is 6 kms which commences from Sonprayag via Ghuttu- Kedarnath bridle path. Nearest railway station is at Rishikesh (212 kms) while Jolly Grant is the nearest airport is at Dehradun (226 kms).
