Char Dham Yatra to become easier: Survey completed, railway tracks will be laid soon

In the coming years the pilgrimage to God’s own heaven on earth, Char Dham will become easier as it will be soon connected by swift railway lines. After which the pilgrims will be able to complete their Char Dham Yatra in just four days. The Central Government has decided to connect all four Dhams with railway networks, for which the survey report has been sent to the railway ministry. In the next financial year, the first leg of the survey will be started.

In an interview, JM Rail Vikas Nigam Mani Bhushan said, “To make the Char Dham Yatra easy the Central Government has decided to lay a rail line. In the survey, a 640 km rail line will be soon laid in which a 150 km tunnel was also marked. In the next financial year, yet another survey will be conducted. After this, the distance of the railway line and the budget will be also be estimated”.

After completing the survey, the railway track laid from Rishikesh to Karnaprayag will be stretched. The distance between Karnaprayag and Badrinath is approximately 100 km. Soon after, the railway line between Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri will be laid, the length of which has been recorded as 640 km. The second Reiki survey was done between Dehradun-Vikasnagar-Yamunotri-Gangotri-Kedarnath and from Badrinath-Karnaprayag. The expense of constructing the railway tracks will be borne separately. After the rail line laid at Karnaprayag, the Railway ministry is planning to take it further and the focus is being solely shifted to this project.
