Soaring High: Rishikesh’s Aditi Rai becomes squadron leader in Indian Air Force

When it comes to serving the nation, the women of Uttarakhand are breaking stereotypes, one squadron leader at a time. After Dehradun-based wing commander Anupama Joshi, Rishikesh’s Aditi Rai have become squadron leader in the Indian Air Force. The 27-year old received the letter of promotion on July 5. Aditi’s father Gulshan Rai runs garment business in Rishikesh.

Aditi Rai completed her intermediate studies in Dehradun before moving to Chandigarh to pursue graduation in Computer Science. ‘She was always fascinated by uniforms and punctuality of Indian Defence Forces.’ recalls his father. She took commission in Indian Air Force in 2011 and is currently posted in Pathankot. After her daughters’ success, Aditi’s mother believes that her daughter proved that daughters are no way lesser when compared to sons – in every aspect of life.
