GOOD NEWS: Six new Passport Sewa Kendra to open in Uttarakhand

No more one has to travel all the way to the capital Dehradun for applying for a new passport or even renewing one. The regional passport office will open six new post office Passport Sewa Kendra (POPSKs) in Uttarakhand. These new passport offices are scheduled to open in Almora, Nainital, Rudrapur, Kathgodam, Roorkee and Srinagar. In fact, the passport office at Almora has been in operation since its inauguration on February 18.

The passport offices at Rudrapur, Nainital and Kathgodam will be in operation by the end of the month while the offices at Roorkee and Srinagar are likely to become operational by the end of March.

However, unlike the passport office in Dehradun, these POPSKs will operate from the post office in their respective locations. While the tatkal facility is not available yet at these locations, people can apply for new passports as well as renew the existing ones. The set up of six new POPSKsĀ  in the state will greatly reduce the stress at Dehradun office and benefit people living far-off as they would not have to travel to Dehradun for passport related services.
