Shilpkala Utsav: Uttarakhand’s handicrafts central theme in a women artisans’ crafts bazaar

The sixth edition of Shilpkala Utsav will have handicrafts from Uttarakhand as its central theme. Organized by All India Women’s Conference (AIWC) and Uttarakhand government, the three-day women artisans’ crafts festival will be held until October 12 at New Delhi. The festival will have a total of 81 stalls from 16 states, 22 of which will showcase Uttarakhand women artisan’s exception work including a variety of handcrafted collections of textiles, crafts, paintings, jewelry and accessories. The festivals is focused on “empowerment of women artisans, promotion of the crafts, and elimination of middlemen”.

Our moto at AIWC is to empower women at the grass root level. This initiative will help build the confidence of women of the hilly regions of Uttarakhand to become successful entrepreneurs in the years to come.

Apart from selling the handicrafts, the artisans will also demonstrate their skills at the festival. Cultural performances from the partner state of Uttarakhand will also take place.
