Saddled on Garuda, Lord Badri makes his spiritual Sojourn to Badrinath Dham

With the echoes of shlokas and mantras suffused in the air, the auspicious Garud Chad Fair was successfully held in Joshimath on Wednesday. Following the age old traditional ceremony, the devotees seated the deity on Garuda and made his journey from Joshimath to Badrinath possible. As per the traditional ceremony, a rope was pulled from the Chavni market to the Nar Singh temple. In which the Garuda carved out of wood was sent first and then Lord Badrinath’s idol was forwarded with the help of the rope. Devotees in huge numbers thronged the Nar Singh temple to witness the glorious event.

Dev Pooja Committee’s President, Bhuvan Chandra Uniyal said, “The Garud Chad Fair is celebrated with fervour since the ancient times as it is propitious for the Badrinath Yatra”.

It is believed that along with the Garud Chad Fair, the preparations for opening the portals of Badrinath Dham also go hand in hand. To witness this ceremony, Badrinath’s Rawal Ishwaran Namboothiri, Former Municipality Chairman Rishi Prasad  Sati, Satish Bhatt, Bhola Prasad, Aditya Bhushan Sati, Bhagwati Prasad Namburi and others were present.
