27 new Helipads in 12 districts of Uttarakhand, major boost for tourism and disaster managment

In order to encourage tourism and to provide immediate relief during the natural disasters,  27 new helipads will be constructed across the 12 districts of Uttarakhand. Out of the 27 helipads, construction of 7-8 have already been completed.  The cost of the overall project is expected to be around Rs. 1200 crore which has been sanctioned by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). With the help of helipads, it will be easier for tourists as well as natives to reach inaccessible places.

Apart from that, hangers are also being built at three airstrips in Uttarakhand. The construction of helipads and hangers is expected to be completed by the end of this year. The usage of these helipads will be decided by the state government once they are complete. One of the major advantage of these helipads will be the ease of accessibility to far-off regions with the help of charted helicopters.
