Pandit Nain Singh Surveyor Mountaineering Institute, which is the only certified government training institute in Uttarakhand, will offer basic skiing course in the month of February. The institute is located in Munsiyari town in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. The skiing course is expected to start from February 9 and end on February 24. Since the formation of the mountaineering institute, this is only the third time a skiing course is organized for the participants.

Reena Kaushal Dharmashaktu – the OSD at the institute – is a prolific mountaineer and skier herself and believes in the aim of the institute to introduce and initiate young men, women and school children to the mountains and nature. While there were around 50 students in previous batches, this time around 30 ski enthusiasts signed up for the basic ski course. The certificate from the institute will be vital in pursuing the advanced courses if anyone wishes to do so. Students will be trained by highly skilled ski instructors for a period of two weeks.
