ONGC to provide Rs.10 crore for widening Gaurikund-Kedarnath route

The public sector oil giant Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has agreed to provide a sum of Rs. 10 crore under its corporate social responsibility funds for the widening of Gaurikund-Kedarnath bridle path. The decision was taken in a recent meeting between Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Rawat and Union minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi.

While earlier the board at ONGC approved a sum of 4.5 crore for the project, however upon the request of CM, the budget was increased to Rs. 10 crore. Under this project, the bridle path will be increased from 2.5 meters to 6 meters.

Uttarakhand CM also informed Union minister that the Women Polytechnic (Dehradun) which is run by ONGC currently had only retired ONGC officers on Polytechnic Board. He requested to induct government officials and academicians as well to which Dharmendra Pradhan gave consent. CM also briefed about the allocation of free LPG connections to poor families who doesn’t have LPG connections and their annual income is less than 2.5 lakh.

He also informed that GAIL Ltd. has also undertaken citizen welfare and infrastructure development works in Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines.
