It’s official: Uttarakhand ranks no.1 in army recruitment from 2011-2015

In the recent statistics report released by Defence Ministry, Uttarakhand has topped the charts in terms of army recruitment. With respect to the population from year 2011-2015, around 14,737 youths were drafted into the Indian Army from Uttarakhand. The recruitment percentage of 0.14% from Uttarakhand is the highest among all Indian states. It comes as no surprise as it is a believed that from every household in Uttarakhand, at least one person is serving in the army.

According to the Defence Ministry report, around 3,09,947 young men were recruited in the Indian Army from 2011 to 2015. With respect to population, Uttar Pradesh has the most number of army recruitment with 41,811 men drafted into the army. Maharashtra had 25,846 men while Punjab-Chandigarh had 25,173 youth enlisted into the army. However, when it recruitment with respect to the population Uttarakhand’s recruitment rate is 0.14% while UP and Maharashtra are 0.02 and 0.023 respectively.

Army Recruitment from 5-12 October at Dehradun

Anyone interested in joining the Indian Army, the application process have started online which will end on September 20, after which no application will be entertained. The recruitment rally is being conducted at Mahindra Ground in Dehradun. In this rally, youths from Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Tehri Garhwal, Pauri Garhwal, Haridwar and Dehradun.  The age requirement for the post of soldier (General Duty) should be between 17.5 years to 21 years as of October 1, 2017. From this year, the height requirements have been reduced from 166 cm to 163 cm. Men with tattoos will not be allowed for army recruitment process.
