Kedarnath’s glorious history to be carved on the temple wall

The 350 metres long and 12 feet high RCC defensive wall designed to safeguard the Kedarnath temple will be soon be covered with intricate 3D paintings that will remind us of the glorious history and the reconstruction of Kedarnath temple. Two watching towers will be also be established here to keep an eye on the changing weather conditions at the Chorabari area.

This defensive wall is erected about 200 metres away from the temple and will entice the pilgrims by offering a glimpse into the past events of Kedarnath. It will also act as a source of knowledge for the visitors as it will glorify the stories of Kedarpuri and Kedarnath. Apart from the history, the loss borne during the Kedarnath catastrophe and the reconstruction done in the year 2014 will also be depicted on the wall.

NIM has funded the three tier defensive wall that has been designed by IIT Roorkee and CBRI’s expert:

It is known that the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering Training (NIM) had built a three tier wall for protecting Kedarnath and Kedarpuri. This Herculean wall has been designed by IIT Roorkee and CBRI’s expert. The first layer of the wall consists of the Gabion Wall, the second layer consists of the Rock Net Wall and the third consists of the RCC wall. According to NIM, the three defensive walls are strong enough to face the mass overflow of 2013.
