The harvest festival Harela to start from 16 July, 5000 saplings to be planted

One of the prominent prominent festivals of Uttarakhand, Harela will be celebrated in a month-long affair starting from 16 July and concluding on 17 August. The Dhaad society will organize various cultural events all over Uttarakhand which will showcase rich traditions and  heritage. Various seminars will also be held where eminent scholar will speak on topics pertaining to environment, Harela and its significance. In addition to that, around 5,000 saplings will be planted in the course of the festival.

Tanmay, Secretary of Dhaad society, informed that a public meeting and an awareness rally will be carried out on July 16 and 17, in which students from various schools and locals will participate in. The month-long festivities of Harela will conclude on the eve of Ghee-Sangraad festival on August 17. On the topic of harvest festival of Harela, Tanmay added that the festival have been celebrated in the Uttarakhand society since ages.

On the occasion of Harela, the forest department is also organize a plantation drive to plant 5,000 saplings all over Uttarakhand. CM Trivendra Rawat and other ministers will also be part of the drive.
