The tourists visiting Uttarakhand will soon be able to beat the mile-long traffic during the season. The Uttarakhand government is planning to connected famous hill stations in the state via ropeways. Along with Nainital and Mussoorie, several other prominent places will have ropeway access. Minister of Tourism, Satpal Maharaj, said that many ropeway companies have shown interest in the project. The tourism department have also started receiving proposals in this regard. The ropeway project will help alleviate the burden of the roads with the increase in tourist footfall every year.

At Mussoorie, the ropeway will be laid out from Purkul to Mussoorie via Hathipaon (near George Everest). A route is also planned from direct Ramnagar to Nainital or via Haldwani. With this, the tourists who reach Haldwani, don’t have to get stuck in the high traffic during the season and directly reach Nainital. A ropeway at Kedarnath is also on the cards, added Satpal Maharaj. The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model will be applied for these project. The new tourism policy will be implemented in the state soon after which these projects will be given green signal.
