Gairsain to be Uttarakhand’s summer capital

Dehradun: CM Trivendra Singh Rawat in the state assembly on Wednesday announced a historic decision that Gairsain will be the summer capital of Uttarakhand.

“Gairsain in Chamoli district will be the summer capital of the state, we will sit together, work out the plan and make preparations in this regard,” Rawat said while speaking in the state Assembly.

Rawat termed the decision a tribute to the people who fought for a separate state and further added, “It was a long-pending demand of the people in the hilly district to have the state’s summer capital in Gairsain.”

With this, Uttarakhand becomes the second state after Jammu and Kashmir to have two capitals.
