Faith Vs Development: Temples built on the hilly roads in U’khand to be demolished soon

Obeying the orders given by Supreme Court, the Tehsil administration has marked the temples constructed on the roads of Bhilangana and Pratap Nagar block to be demolished soon. The locals are frenzied with this decision of the government and have protested against it. The administration has marked all the temples built on the Ghansali-Chamiyala, Budha Kedar, Elkesi and Ghansali-Tehri motorable road that falls under the Balganga Tehsil. Around six small as well as big temple sites built on this motorable road are being demolished by the administration.

The former member of the Badri-Kedar Committee and the President of Baleshwar Dham Temple Committee Chandra Kishore Maithani, Sundar Singh Kathait, Visheshwar Prasad and Shivraj Singh Kaluda have said that these temple sites hold great religious significance in the lives of the people and shouldn’t be buldozered but the administration is demolishing even those temples that were built way before when the roads were carved here. While in Pratapnagar, the administration has demolished temples built on the Lambgaon, Kotalgaon, Pratapnagar, Uttarkashi and Tehri motorable roads. The local residents have resorted for seeking help from the legislator and DM to stop the temples from being demolished.
