Entertainment Tax exempted from river rafting, adventurers are you listening?

A good news for the adventure lovers and the broke college-goes looking out for ways to get their hands on the cheap adventure activities as Uttarakhand government has exempted entertainment tax from the river rafting activities across the state. The Finance Department has released this information in public interest. Earlier, 20% entertainment tax was being derived from the river rafting companies. Two days back, this matter was discussed in the Uttarakhand Cabinet meeting in which it was decided that the river rafting companies will be freed from the entertainment tax.

The Finance Department under Act 1979 has exempted entertainment tax from river rafting activities in Uttarakhand. With this decision of the government, Uttarakhand’s Treasury Department will face a setback of Rs 2 crores.  It is speculated that since GST will be applicable from July 1, the entertainment tax has been spared of the river rafting activities and with the enforcement of GST, the entertainment tax department will be merged.
