Doctors to be posted in 200 vacant hospitals in hilly areas of Uttarakhand

The Uttarakhand government have laid out a one-year plan to improve the deteriorating health conditions in the state, especially in the hilly regions of Uttarakhand. With one-year target, the government aims to fill vacant in the hospitals that have turned ghosts in Uttarakhand. As many as 200 hospitals in these far flung areas are devoid of doctors and medical specialists. Doctors serving long tenures in the plain areas of Uttarakhand will be transferred to hilly areas, where there is a dearth of medical specialists for treatment of patients.

The government will be strict and will display no leniency towards doctors reluctant to serve in the remote areas of Uttarakhand. Around 1600 vacancies pertaining to doctors and medical staff are required to be filled Uttarakhand. After the doctors are assigned posts in remote areas, they are required to report at new location at any cost. Newly pass out doctors will also be assigned to serve the far-flung places.
