Devotees! Now you can get a glimpse of sacred Mount Kailash from Lipulekh in Pithoragarh

No need to travel to China anymore for Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra. Now devotees can get a glimpse of sacred Mount Kailash from the Indian soil itself. The Public Works Department (PWD) have completed the construction of a new trekking route near Lipulekh in Pithoragrah district of Uttarakhand. Using this route, devotees are only required to trek for 2 kilometers to get the view of the revered peak. Worshiped as the Himalayan abode of Lord Shiva, Mount Kailash is one of the most revered pilgrimage for Hindus and Buddhists.

For Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, we have built a 2-km bypass route near Lipulekh which will allow devotees to catch the glimpse of revered Mount Kailash from the Indian side itself.

– AB Kandpal, Executive Engineer, PWD (Askot)

At an height of 5,500 meters, the PWD have built the trekking route which was earlier used by shepherd and herders in the region. The trekking trail bypasses the original Kailash Mansarovar Yatra route which passes through Lipulekh pass near Indo-Tibet border. Around Rs. 15 lakh was spent on the construction of the new route. Indian Army also appreciated PWD for completing the construction of the route.
