After Dehradun, Haridwar to become Smart Religious City

After including Dehradun capital in the Smart City list, the central government has reached an agreement to turn the revered city of Haridwar into a smart religious city. The Centre have asked state government to sent the proposal in this regard. Apart from that, Uttarakhand’s tourism department also sought recognition for Institute of Hotel Management from Centre. Tourism minister Satpal Maharaj met union minister of Culture and Tourism Mahesh Sharma in Delhi to discuss the proposals.

After the approval of Haridwar as smart religious city, it will be convenient for pilgrims and devotees to visit the holy city, even during the peak season. In order to decongest the city’s traffic and reduce traffic jams, construction of an alternative bypass road is also being discussed.

Govt. gears up for 2021 Mahakumbh in Haridwar

The Uttarakhand government have made the smooth and better organization of 2021 Mahakumbh in Haridwar their number one priority. Minister of Urban Development Madan Kaushik called in a meeting with top officials to discuss the road map for the Mahakumbh. They were advised to work on infrastructure development of permanent nature rather than temporary make-shift arrangements.
