Cold Storage Rooms to be introduced in hills for Uttarakhand farmers

The government has finally decided to resolve the problems of the poor farmers of Uttarakhand and to develop agricultural schemes in the state, for which Agriculture Minister Subodh Uniyal made several major decisions on Sunday. Uniyal has given the orders for part consolidation, establishing Mountain Seed Development Corporation and to introduce cold storage rooms in various hilly regions of Uttarakhand.

Cold Storage Rooms, Collection and Grading centres to be introduced in the Villages of Uttarakhand

The farmers of Uttarakhand have to face heavy losses due to road blockage as it hinders the access of vehicles, resulting in the loss of output. To preserve the agricultural output, cold storage rooms will be introduced in Uttarakhand which will stock fruits and other agricultural products for a span of 15 days. Along with this, collection and grading centres will also be set up in the hilly areas. Packing and other material will also be made available to those interested in gardening which will help in branding Uttarakhand.

The budget for the RKV scheme has been increased from 47 crores to 84 crores this year

To develop the agricultural sector and for raising the agricultural productivity, the Farm Machine Banks will provide equipment on rent to the needy farmers, herbal and medicinal plant farming will be promoted by the Agricultural Department and around 30 lakh plants will be distributed each year to the farmers.
