CM Trivendra Rawat orders to speed up the work on Rishikesh-Karnaprayag Rail line

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has taken the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag railway line matter in his personal interest and has ordered to speed up the work related to Rishikesh-Karnaprayag rail line. Holding a meeting at Dehradun, CM directed Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) to shift the power lines coming along the way within 90 days. He also ordered the Jal Sansthan to shift drinking water pipelines in the area within 30 days.

Directions were also given by CM to the Forest Department for clearing the areas within three days as the foundation work of the railway bridge needs to be completed. It was also decided to distribute Rs 5 crore to Chamoli, Pauri, Tehri and Uttarkashi administrations to conduct administrative work related to Rishikesh-Karnaprayag railway line.

On an estimation, around 47 villages and 411 houses will be affected by laying the railway line. The time limit to offer compensation to the affected had been kept till October end for Chamoli district, whereas for the rest of the affected districts it has been kept as December end.

Many distinctive personalities like Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash, Principal Secretary Dr Uma Kant Panwar, Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram, Garhwal Commissioner Vinod Sharma, other senior officials of the state and RVNL were present during the meeting. DMs of Chamoli, Pauri, Tehri and Uttarkashi also attended the meeting through video conferencing.
