Cheaper helicopter services to start in October in Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand government have declared October 7 as the deadline for starting affordable helicopter services in the state. In the first phase, the heli services will be started on five routes under the central government’s UDAAN scheme. Central government launched the UDAAN scheme earlier this year to make air travel affordable for the common people. For this scheme, a dozen of routes were earmarked in Uttarakhand.

The Centre also selected  the companies which will be plying on these routes in Uttarakhand. The aviation companies have completed the survey of the routes and helipad inspection. Now, for the operation of services DGCA licenses remains to be provided. The fare of these helicopter services could be priced at Rs. 2000 per hour per seat.

Five routes in Uttarakhand for heli services

  • Sahastradhara – Chinyalisaur

  • Gauchar – Sahastradhara
    (Heli operator: Pawan Hans 7-seater)
  • Pantnagar – Almora – Pithoragarh
    (Heli operator: Pawan Hans 11-seater)
  • Haldwani – Dharchula
    (Heli operator: Heritage Aviation 7-seater)
  • Sahastradhara – Gauchar
    (Heli operator: Heritage Aviation 7-seater)
