Char Dham Railway Project: Routes for Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath confirmed

Northern Railways – one of the 17 railway zones of India – have finalized the report pertaining to the Char Dham railway project  which will connect the 4 revered Dhams in Uttarakhand (Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri). The estimated cost of the 323-km long single broad gauge railway line is expected to be around Rs. 43,292 crore with around 120 crore sanctioned for the final location survey of the railway project. The Char Dham railway project will consist of 21 stations,  61 tunnels and 57 railway bridges.

Kedarnath Route: The railway track will be laid out from Saikot near Nandprayag. The railway line will conclude at Sonprayag. The total length of this railway track will be around 99 kms.

Badrinath Route:  The railway track will be laid out from Karnprayag which will conclude at Joshimath. The total length of this railway track will be around 75 kms.

Gangotri Route: The railway track will be laid out from Doiwala near Dehradun. The railway line will conclude at Maneri via Uttarakashi. The total length of this railway track will be around 135 kms.

Yamunotri Route: The railway track will be laid out from Palar railway station on Gangotri train route.  The total length of this railway track will be around 22 kms.
