Char Dham Highway Project once again on the radar of NGT

The Centre’s highly ambitious Char Dham Mahamarg Vikas Pariyojna is yet again on the radar of the National Green Tribunal. Against the guideline of Uttarkashi’s Bhagirathi eco-sensitive zone, 94 km long NH 34 from Dharasu to Gangotri is being widened from 12 to 24 metres. In this process not only the debris of the project is being drained in the Ganga river but some of the valuable Himalayan plants coming between the route have also been jabbed.
