Bajaate Raho! 93.5 Red FM to launch in Dehradun

Good news for music lovers!

One of the popular radio stations in India,  93.5 Red FM have purchased the licence to broadcast in Dehradun. With this, Dehradun Red FM becomes the second most expensive radio station in India with over 15 crore 61 lakh spent by the radio company to procure the broadcasting rights. Since the creation of Uttarakhand in 2000, it is the first time since any radio company have shown interest in Uttarakhand. Before this, the state only had community radio service at its disposal. With the launch of the radio channel, we hope the regional music will also get ample airplay apart from Bollywood songs.

Information and Broadcast Ministry, announced e-tender for 48 different cities in India. In this tender, the government offered broadcasting rights to private radio companies. The cost of licence ranged from from 5 lakh to 23 crore. Due to the large diaspora of school and college students, the scope for radio broadcasting in Dehradun is quite lucrative. Radio jockeying will soon become a new, hot profession in the Doon valley.
