90 feet high Jhanda Sahib Flag Pole reached Guru Ram Rai Darbar in Dehradun

On Tuesday morning, the devotees of Sri Guru Ram Rai Darbar carried the ginormous flagpole of Sri Jhanda Sahib on their shoulders from Guru Ram Rai Inter College in Mothrowala to Sri Darbar Sahib, where it will be erected. This ginormous 90 feet high flagpole is made of ‘Sal’ wood and is crafted by several skilful artists who were busy sculpting it at the Guru Ram Rai Inter College in Mothrowala from the last two months. To mark the auspicious event, the residents of Dehradun showered flowers on the pole bearers to celebrate the homecoming of the holy flagpole at Darbar Sahib and refreshments were also offered to them. Thousands of devotees from Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and other states thronged Sri Darbar Sahib on Monday evening to be a part of the fair. A large number of people who gathered here were mainly from Dehradun, especially the youngsters who were quiet enthusiastic about the event.

The New Jhanda Sahib will be raised on March 17, 2017, when the Jhanda Fair will begin

On Tuesday morning at 9:45 am, the pedestrian union marched from the Darbar Sahib, covering important points of destinations like Saharanpur Chowk, Pathri Bagh, Kargi Chowk, Banjarawala and finally reaching Mothrowala. As the procession marched, the sounds of drums and trumpets were suffused with the chants of ‘Sri Guru Ram Rai Ji Maharaj’. After holding a little prayer session at Mothrowala, the Jhanda Sahib was carried at around 11:50 am by several devotees, chanting the name of Guru Ram Rai and making their way towards Darbar Sahib. The Jhanda Ji will be raised on March 17 under the mentorship of Sajjadanashin of Shri Darbar Sahib and Mahant Devendra Dass Ji Maharaj. It is speculated that around 10 lakh devotees will reach Darbar Sahib by March 17 to witness this holy ceremony.
