2nd mega food park in Uttarakhand, to benefit around 25,000 farmers

Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal recently inaugurated the second mega park in Uttarakhand. An over 50-acre Himalayan Mega Food Park Private Ltd has been setup in Kashipur at a cost of Rs. 99.96 crore and is expected to benefit around 25,000 farmers – not only in the Udham Singh district but also in Nainital, Pauri, Almora and Champawat. The first mega food park at Haridwar has already become operational.

The food park is expected to consist of an central processing centre (CPC) and three primary processing centers (PPCs) at Kaladhungi, Ramnagar and Ramgarh. Direct and indirect employment to over 5,000 people and 25,000 farmers will be provided at the recently inaugurated food park, which is expected to generate 450-500 crore turnover annually.

The sector will contribute towards doubling farmers’ income in the coming years by working to achieve this goal through implementation of projects under the flagship scheme of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana.
