Only 28% people have full-time employment in Uttarakhand: Survey

Only 28.46% of the total population in Uttarakhand have full-time employment while 14.30 % of the population have part-time employment. The illiterate population lags far behind in terms of full-time employment. These figures have been released by the Office of the Registrar General & Census Commissioner, India. In terms of full time employment, Uttarakhand lags by 1.48% as compared to national average which is at 29.94%. In Uttarakhand, 61.60% of the population do not have any employment at all, however only 4% of these are interested in employment. Those who are not interested are mostly housewives, senior citizens and underage.

When calculating these figures, the Office of the Registrar General & Census Commissioner divided the population on the basis of literacy and education. The most illiterate population have the least number of employment opportunities. The graduates have the most employment opportunities followed by diploma holder and literate persons. In the capital Dehradun with a population of 16 lakh, only 4.88 lakh people have a full-time employment.
