Summer Special: Gangotri National Park now open for Visitors

Time to rejoice as the doors of the Gangotri National Park are open for the tourists until November 15. In the history of this park, this is for the first time that the gates of this park have opened before the portals of the Gangotri Dham. However, the doors of the Gangotri Dham will open from April 28. After launching the new system, the tour and trekking operators are quite happy. On the first day, about 25 tourists in different groups started their trek to Gaumkukh from Tapovan.

Trekking Agency Operator, Vishnu Semal said, ‘We are overwhelmed by this new step of the government as now the tourists can stroll inside the park for a longer period of time’.

Earlier, the gates of the park were opened along with the portals of the Gangotri Dham and were closed when the portals of the Gangotri Dham were closed for the pilgrims. Since Ganga’s origin is inside the Gangotri National Park area located about 18 km from Gangotri, the park is visited by many trekking and wildlife enthusiasts for its luscious natural beauty.

Some of the trekking spots like Tapovan, Nandavan, Kalindi Pass along with the majestic peaks like Shivling, Bhagirathi I, II, III are a centre of attraction for the avid trekkers. To traverse here, you need to seek the permission from the Gangotri National Park officials. Gangotri National Park official Pratap Panwar told that according to the government order released in November 2016, the park will be opened from April 15 to November 15 every year. The tourists can also book online tickets to access this park.
