By the end of 2017, Uttarakhand is likely to get its first sports university which will either be established in capital city Dehradun or Haldwani. The inspection team of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports have returned to Delhi with their reports after surveying both the sites. Joint Secretary of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports IAS Rajbeer Singh and Director of Indian Institute of Sports Science Research were among the team that surveyed the locations. The sports university will be a dedicated institution for students who want to pursue higher education in sport sciences as well as learn various sports professionally. The university will be laced with high-end sports facilities and technology to compete with their counterparts on a global level.
